Todd Pearce has spent his career engineering boats to perform at their best—whether in the heat of America’s Cup racing or out on the water for a weekend cruise. With a background in high-performance yacht racing and decades of hands-on marine engineering, Todd brings a rare level of skill, precision, and problem-solving to every job.
His journey started in precision engineering as a Fitter and Turner at Caxton Printing Works in Hernderson, where he learned the fundamentals of machining and metalwork. But it was when he stepped into the marine industry that everything clicked.
Todd’s first break came with Martin Marine, working on Team New Zealand’s 1992 America’s Cup Challenge. This was a time of huge innovation, with cutting-edge materials like titanium and carbon fibre transforming yacht design. His work machining high-performance components meant these boats could handle extreme conditions—and win. He went on to work on Endeavour, the maxi yacht that Grant Dalton skippered to victory in the 1993-94 Whitbread Round the World Race.
Todd took the next step - buying his own engineering shop and working with well-known Kiwi boatbuilder Salthouse Boats, focusing on new builds and refits. But the lure of top-tier competition called again, and in 2003 he was appointed Race Engineer for Oracle BMW’s 2003 America’s Cup Challenge. Operating from Ventura County, California, and later Auckland, he played a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge race yachts for Oracle’s high-profile campaign.
When offered the chance to continue with Oracle in Valencia, he made the call to return home instead - ready to apply his expertise to a new challenge.
That challenge was Westpark Marine - the marine engineering shop he founded to bring world-class craftsmanship to New Zealand boat owners. The same principles that defined Todd’s work in elite yacht racing - attention to detail, reliability, and problem-solving - now drive every refit, repair, and maintenance task at Westpark Marine.
